I have a problem trying to view microsoft web pages, not just microsoft.com but almost all pages related to microsoft (the only one I can open is http://www.msn.com). It seems that everybody here in the office are able to open them, but not me. IExplorer trows me an DNS Error page.

The stranges thing is when I try to go to windowsupdate, when timeout expires Explorer goes to this to web pages (Edited: This happen only one time today, don't know why):

http://www.www.windowsupdate.com.org/
http://www.your.com

I searched the net and did't found any information about this two sites.

I've changed all Internet Options to defaults and even have spyware protection from spywareblaster and ad-aware. Everything else on the network works fine.

does anyone knows something about this?

Thanks in advanced

Regards

grab AdAware or Spybot and clean your pc, it seems you have some spyware inside hijacking IE...
they are both free...just update the definition when you download them

Thanks Ragnar78, but I already have both of them (latest releases and latest definition) but neither report spyware or any hijack.

Have you checked to make sure something hasn't overwritten your hosts file?

Also, I didn't think of this as a possible reason, but I did notice the last paragraph of this page:

http://home.comcast.net/~rthamper/html/ ... 98tips.htm

Specifically:
Quote:
Windows 98 Problem Solutions

If Internet Explorer settings are on High, you can't access Microsoft's Product Update Catalog. Change the settings to Medium or Low before going to the Windows Update site.

Might want to take a quick glance at your internet security settings in options and see if they are set to high. If so, try dropping them down to medium, or just reset the defaults (which I think are medium) and see if that works.

is you are using spybot make sure to perform an update. Or just go get the new ver. of spybot ver. 1.3 . It wil look for over 16000 different items that could possible annoy you and your computer.

Agreed. By all appearances, this is not a new hijacker. One of the spyware scanner software should find it.

Thanks for all the replies

@ATNO Thanks for the links, I didn't know about this, I tried to reproduce the problem but it never happen again since yesterday. I checked my security settings and they are in medium, tried low but it didn't work either. My hosts file seems to be ok, it only has a locahost entry.

Lemme rerun all spyware scanners with their latest versions and updates.

I still can't get any M$ pages, maybe I should try FireFox :)

Thanks to everyone who answer

I've tried all anti-spyware software out there, and none of them reported any errors, nor a hijack nor spyware (latest signatures by the way)

I've decided to try FireFox (great browser) but it didn't work either :( .

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Maybe try reinstalling internet explorer, although that probably won't help with mozilla.

oh God, I felt so ashamed, I look like a noobie

I've been trying to fix this since january, and I never thought of this:

I've changed my Ip address and guess what? everything works like a charm :banghead: now I have to see what happened to my other ip address and why it is blocked (I am going to have a little chat with my firewall admin :rambo: )

Thanks a lot to everyone who tried to help me. :iconthumbleft:
