Well first thin was, i cldt get office live update to install. and then next problem(1 day ltr) I was trying to get some songs off my friends iPod ant it wouldn't let me. so i went to see if there was any up dates, and there was so i made sure they were compatible and i installed them. and then it still wldnt work so i just went to the int. and downloaded some. while doing so i intalled a flash player and Codec Pack - All In 1; cause my wynamp and windows media player wldnt play some of them. and so forth. now i have two net frameworks 3.5 and programs hang, stop, and shut down unexpectedly.. But just so you know my sons dad was on the comp off and on for 3 days, and only god knows what he downloaded he thinks he knows his stuff. And although this isn't all I hope this will help you understand. and here is one report i got this morning.....

I don't think you need 'set1328.tmp', I think you are safe to remove it but wait for some one to say I'm right

Also, post a hijackthis log here to see if you got some viruses

The log doesn't show anything serious, but you could go about removing the following.

According to PREVX, the following is malicious
Quote:
O23 - Service: GameConsoleService - WildTangent, Inc. - C:\Program Files\eMachines Games\eMachines Game Console\GameConsoleService.exe

Looks like that has something to do with WildTangent, Inc. I'm not so sure of the validity of that... maybe someone could confirm this.

I'm not so sure of the use of the following... don't think you need that, but I don't know... I've never used Vista

(Or so google search told me  )

Did you run McAfee yet? Why do you have 3+ Antispyware (or something like that) running/installed at once? (McAfee, Ad-Aware 2007, Windows Live OneCare, others I may have overseen)?

Did you do the following?
Quote:
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

I'm not really sure what that is, but it has something to do with restrictions and Internet Explorer

I don't recommend toolbars as they could become vulnerabilities, but I don't know if that's true to Vista...

i have no idea, and was noticing that as well. Plus there is also restrictions on any other user but the 'owner' to change almost every major program! ????

Let's backtrack a bit. Specifically which programs "hang, stop, and shut down unexpectedly"? And can you describe what you are trying to do when this happens?

well they were the mainly the win media player, then the others started ...winamp, quick time, safari, itunes... Then went installers and uninstallers timing out or hanging , and today my cpu keeps running at max and my windows explorer kept shutting down.
While most of this is happening i am just playing music and when any burning or downloading began. and another thing is i can sit with 4 different browser windows open and no problems but as soon as any music or installations happen then i get issues

I was sort of suspecting an answer like that. My best guess it's related to ffdshow
Code: [ Select ]
Ffdshow is a DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DivX, XviD, WMV, MPEG-1, and MPEG-2 movies. It uses libav codec from ffmpeg project for video decompression, post processing code from mplayer to enhance visual quality of low bit rate movies, and is based on original DirectShow filter from XviD, which is GPL'ed educational implementation of MPEG4 encoder.

codecs can really screw things up with media players at times. It's looking like you might have a bad install. I'd suggest uninstalling it.

I'll try to find you a solution. Codecs, especially filters and codec packs are a pain in the arse. Make sure you aren't trying to uninstall DirectShow but rather the FFDShow filter pack. DirectShow is essential for Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media player and others.
