Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem with Windows XP Pro - winsrv cannot be found - so I'd like to reinstall Windows but I don't have anymore the original CD. Is there a way still to proceed with the reinstallation of Windows ? Is there a program that can be run from the Windows directory that will reinstall the OS ?

Thanks for your help !

You need the CD to reinstall windows but there are other things to try first. Are you getting that message when you try to boot the PC? Is so, turn on the PC and hold the F8 key. When you see the menu, use the arrows to choose Last Known Good Config. If that doesn't work, try safe mode. If you can get into safe mode, do a restore point.

I've done all that and I still get that error message saying :
"stop c0000135 winsrv was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". I've also uninstalled the SP2 updates. But nothing works. However on safe boot mode all the applications run normally.

So, do a restore point in safe mode.
OR
Disable various startup programs in msconfig until you find the conflict. There is no reason to reinstall.
