I was wondering if anybody knows how to put the Show Desktop link that is on the quick launch menu by default back. Earlier today I was trying to delete something on my quick launch but accidently deleted that one instead. I logged into my guest account and viewed the properties of it, but it just seems to be a system command. For type of file it says it is Windows Explorer Command. Are there ways to put commands like that and make them into links?

Anyway after restarting the computer it appears that the show desktop link came back and the one I was trying to delete is in fact gone. So I think I did delete the right thing, but the computer made the wrong icon disappear making me think I deleted the wrong one. Gotta love Window's quirks. Anyway it got me thinking though, how would I have got it back if I it was in fact deleted?

Nevermind, looks like I found it myself. Here is the answer:

Open up your favorite notepad editor and copy and paste the following into it:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Now save that file to your desktop and call it Desktop.scf

Once that is done left click on the file you just created on your desktop and drag it over to your Quick Launch bar and release. You should now be able to goto your desktop again by pressing the Show Desktop link you just made.

heeh you goof....

great tidbit though. I use that button more than any other button on my
computer. I'd be lost without it, and now I'll know how to get it back!
thx :)

i agree with ya, i have never managed to delete it tho :shock:
i know some people that rely on that bar on the bottom alone, and make sure their desktop is spotless, pretty good idea, i might end up resorting to that ;)
