Is there a way to make the admin show in normal mode of XP Pro. I can see him in safe mode but not normal mode. I am the one that had the unabel to install problem. I want to install McAfee(through dad's work) but i keep on getting that error. Then i go to safe mode login as the admin. Try to install it and Bang! Warring u cannot install this program in safe mode. So my real question is how do i get admin to show under the login screen? is there a way i can do something to login in as him?

you're saying that on the XP login screen, you don't see the
admin account?

Can I assume here that you don't remember your administrator password? The way you've been asking questions lately I almost have to think this is the problem. One solution would be to buy the "locksmith" tool included in ERD Commander ( http://www.winternals.com/products/repa ... ksmith.asp ), the other solution would be reinstall and start from scratch.

not to mention the path of asking your dad for help. If this is
really what you want to do, then he should understand and
help you out.

I'm not sure if you mean that you don't see the Administrator on the welcome screen. But here is how to get it on there:

1. At the comand prompt, type lusrmgr.msc to open Local Users And Groups
2. In the console tree, click Groups
3. Double-click the Administrators group and remove all accounts except Administrator
4. Open the Users or Power Users groups and then click Add to each of the accounts you removed.
*This will only work for XP Professional

Those instructions came from a Windows XP book. So I'm assuming they will work.

Or you can just follow the directions on this site: http://www.tweakxp.com/tweak1979.aspx I think this looks easier, but only use it if you are comfortable with editing your registry.

*lol -- I wish mine was as easy! I just nixed all admin rights to my 3 admin users (including adiministrator) by trying to copy a profile to authenticated users. *lol (I knew better --last time I'll ever experiment with that!) (Don't worry -- no help needed on my part -- I just started from square one).
