I am assuming that when you choose shutdown the pc restarts and never shuts down completely? Have you performed a vrius scan lately? Not sure if a virus would be an issue but you never know. You could always re-install windows if it is that big of a deal. That might fix your problem.

Well i am sure i have no virus...and i also read some articals concerning XP shutdown, that can be affected (restarting instead of turning off), by the installation of some programs.
But its kind of hell to reinstall windows with all the settings and backups i have to do...
And another bug for exemple, when i restart and want to logon, i select an account and then the mouse freezes as well as the keyboard...i have to manually shut it down...
:?
Weird...really weird...

this happened to me and my cousin went iinto something like dos and found a list of operating systems and chooses repair

he poped in the cd and wela! it worked
the only thing i can fully remember is that it pretty much just copied it self

so you'dhave like 2 windows folders!

No im sure its not the Blaster...i have a good AV and i even scanned my PC through the net.
Ill have to repair windows...hopefully it might work...though im pretty sure it will delete all the settings...that would be killer :(

it does sound like the blaster virus but not quite. Blaster will let you login and then it will restart your computer. His problem is when he clicks shut down the PC restarts instead. I would try to repair XP but look through the knowledge base articles on MS website. You may find the answer.

Ok i found one article...still its not quiet the one im seeking

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327565&Product=winxp

but the second one is most intresting cause it tells about the problem encountered especially if u have roxio installed (though i dont have it)

But ill try to manipulate the registry...
here is the link
