Another program that is good to try is Spybot Search and Destroy. Sometimes Adaware does not catch certain things. I had a program attach itself to my pc that was making its own pop-ups no matter if I was on the web or not. I left me pc on while I was watching a movie. When I came back my whole screen was taken over by pop up ads. It was not a pretty site. It took me awhile to actually find the program to get rid of it. You can also do ctrl. alt. delete and see if there are any programs running that you were unaware of. Then hunt them down and get rid of the ones that are not right.

You have a problem that can be solved by Ad Muncher. Eventhough Ad Muncher is not an application that specifically deals for this problem, it has an option to disable those MSN Messenger Service pop-up.

I don't know what causes these pop-ups, but its most likely spyware or adaware or some other form of internet problem. Either way, download Ad Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com) to disable those pop-ups.

When you get Ad Muncher, go to Options > Popup Removal > Make sure "Messenger pop-ups" is checked (that will disable the pop-ups).

Let your friend know to keep several spyware applications to get rid of spyware and other problems.

theres an easy way to get rid of the messenger service. go into control panel/admin tools/services then find messenger on the list right click on it. then go to properties click stop then in the startup type pull down bar choose disable. Then click OK and exit services... now you will never see those messenger popups again.

you will need to do a custom scan with ad aware.... go in to the settings, make sure it checks all your drives.... and all the folders/registry etc....

You may be using default settings. Do not forget to update all the time.
