Thanks Mr. OBrien. That stops the thing from restarting. The only thing is that if I restart or turn it on the next day, that thing pops back up. It didn't used to do that before.

I fixed numerous entries in my log as they were infected, and here is the remained. I may have missed some things.

Good that it has stopped. The problem originates from the fact that if the RPC service shuts down unexpectedly, there are at minimum 3 dozen services dependent upon the RPC service - more depending on what other 3rd party applications you have running that depend on it. RPC is a service that cannot be stopped manually while Windows is running, nor can the process startup state be changed from automatic to manual or disabled. It's an integral service to Windows.

As far as I know Blaster was the only worm that would do this and exploited a DCOM RPC vulnerability which was patched http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... 3-026.mspx. If you used the removal tool from Symantec and it's no longer doing it then all is good. But if the RPC service shuts down, Windows is definitely going to shut down.

If anybody shutdowning ur system from other system , u will get this kind of message. This facility available in the VB,Vc++ api's which can be used to shutdown or restart the systems remotely.

Ahh! That makes tremendous sense and leads me to believe this might have being it... my internet is provided through another computer... the owner of that computer might have being jacking with me... but good thing... I get my internet directly now and not indirectly like before.
