I was wondering What processes are needed to keep running the computer.

In otherwords, I want to shut down every proccess that i can. I just want the bare miniumum.

I am running on windows xp.

I would also like to know if any of those programs on there are deletable. Tell me which programs I can delete without effecting my computer.

What's up with the Deja Vu lately - I just recommended the same to a fellow co-worker today (re: google - that is - on the same subject). Almost everyone of those tasks, if you type the filename of the executable file will bring up what it is and what it does on the first result. Usually it's going to be: http://www.liutilities.com

For example if you type your first process svchost.exe into Google the first result is:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/win ... y/svchost/

with the following info:

Quote:
svchost - svchost.exe - Process Information
Process File: svchost or svchost.exe
Process Name: Service Host Process
Description: Application works as a host process for services that run from dynamic-link libraries.
Company: Microsoft Corp.
System Process: Yes
Security Risk ( Virus/Trojan/Worm/Adware/Spyware ): No
Common Errors: N/A

Although a lot of us know how to do this, I know there are some that don't so I prefered to show you how to do a good search for it and get good results.
