i have using windows xp sp2 and fedora 7 i am not able to connect the windows xp to fedora 7 but i started telnet services.

Microsoft Telnet> o 10.1.1.131
Connecting To 10.1.1.131...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

help me..

Most people use ssh on port 22 instead of telnet these days. Try that. Can you ping the fedora box?

I would check your firewall. If you are using the built-in XP firewall it is probably blocking traffic on that port.

1, i was check xp to fedora its working fine (ping) network connective pretty good. then i am disable inbuild firewall after i checked i seem same problem what happen

Is another program running such as Norton or McAvee? Stop all firewalls if there are more than one.

After that,make sure that telnet is running on Fedora
ps aux | grep telnet

Use that command to see if telnet is running.
If you still have the same problem, start ssh and use that.
