Let me give everyone a little story from a pro point of view. When I first started my current job, on my first day I was asked if I could get a computer running again. They needed it so one of our VP's could connect remotely from his home out of state. I said I'd give it a shot.

I kid you not - they pulled it out of a closet and handed it to me. Nobody could get the thing to do anything. It was so bad it had been sitting in a closet for over 3 months. From the moment you booted the computer, you had pop-up ads, and you could get absolutely nowhere if you tried to access the internet from all the popups. Not to mention resources were maxed.

The majority of the spyware/adware crap on the computer was a direct result of Kaaza and Limewire. After identifying and manually removing close to a dozen spyware proggies, I could finally use the computer enough that I could nix Kaaza and Limewire. After that I ran Adaware and it still found almost 400 items associated with adware/spyware. I was then finally able to reinstall Symantec AV and nixed 4 trojans and 2 worms.

After 6 hours I finally had the computer back in working order. It would have been easier to format the sucker and start from scratch, but there were files they wanted to save.

The moral of the story is nothing is free - - you pay for it one way or the other.

Nope - it will just keep coming back to haunt you. Besides, limewire is mostly porn crap anyway (if my understanding is correct).

Actually it has alot of music and programs i havent searched for porn.
for those of you with lime wire and kazza and want an alternative i can recomend this http://www.neo-modus.com. The program is not as user friendly as kazaa or limewire and you need a good deal of info to be able to share in some servers, but i have never heard of spyware with this prog.

I think my overall point is, these programs not only add spyware to your computer, but the overall purpose is to circumvent copyrights of ligit musicians or whatever and take money out of their pockets. Do I envy the fact that they get rich and I don't? ... sure...but it's not fair to them to steal their work.

With that I'm locking this post.
