Toshiba L20 help please

Hi guys i have Toshiba L20 PSL2YE laptop. I want to format it is using XP CD but it wont boot. The XP CD wont boot even i change the Booting sequence and make the CD drive boot 1st. I change even the CD but it wont boot. It wont get me in the "Press any key to boot from the CD" thing. This laptop is old. The CD drive works fine thou. Please help me. As of now the laptop have no OS in it. But previously it has Vista installed. Please help. Thanks.
