Post 3+ Months Ago

I got a windows xp home edition that doesn't want to work. It goes to the windows logo screen and just restarts. I learned that that's called "headless redirection" (I think so at least) and that it does that upon system failures.

I don't have any CDs with the PC so I'm not sure how to fix it.

I've tried the following (in the XP recovery console... In that order):

Fixboot
Bootcfg /rebuild
Bootcfg /default
Bootcfg /disableredirect
Bootcfg /redirect useBiosSettings

I don't know what to try next... Any help?

Why did you start a second thread? I thought you were going to try the diagnostic tools I mentioned.

Because it's about two different pcs... One is a laptop while another is a tower.

[EDIT] The tool is for the laptop with VISTA while the XP is a desktop. Sorry for the confusion.

Something I should have noted in the previouse post is that the pc got infected with something bad and that thing must have removed a process or something

Try F8 safe mode with boot logging.
