a couple of months ago, i got fed up using internet explorer(because of bugs), so i deleted it.
some time later, i found out that it was essential using it w some programs, like device manager in xp.
so now, when i try to open device manager, i get this message: "mmc requires internet explorer 5.5 or greater to be installed"
ive tried to reinstall internet explorer 6.0, n making sure it works. n i have run my xp-cdrom to fix the prob, but nothing works. i still get the same msg.
i tried microsofts troubleshooting sites n searching the web for other ppl w similar problems as me, but havent found any.
and i dont wanna reinstall xp, because of things i cant save/delete.

so please...is there anything i can do to fix this problem. to get xp to aknowledge that internet is actually there?

when you deleted it, did you drag and delete, or did you do it thru add/remove, if you just trashed the folder >< bad

Hello zarahuztra1.

Go to start > Run
Enter: sfc /scannow

Have your XP CD ready.

If that doesn't work, you can try a repair install.

Follow the instructions for method 2. Your programs and data will be left intact but you will need to reinstall windows updates and service packs.
