I've tried the trouble shoot guide knowledge base MS to update my MS windows Vista.

And the error sayd 408899/ something. I click on help and did everything is asked BUT still can't check for updates.

Eg.
Configuration>Windows property> Automatic update enabled.

What the hell is with Windows Vista?

Now I know why many say Vista sux.

I'd love to help but you need to be more specific on the error you receive. If you could put the error here word for word we may be able to help you better.

From scanning the posts in this thread, it looks like malware may be responsible. Do you have an anti-virus program, and is it up-to-date?

Spork, yup my mind immediately shifts to this virus thing as you said it.

Lately my McAfee ( which I purchased ) acting weird. I had it updated automatically so each time it
s updated it "DING DING" and it seems like change its preference to something else...Looks like i have to reset everything again on my own?

I faced this prob months back and it says something like 4****** error code and I had to disable the firewall from windows or something, which I already did ( cus of the update, i have to reset again ?) So I did and it worked.

This time it says a different thing.
