I am trying to rename a file on NTFS by making changes in, filename attribute, in its MFT (Master File Table) record. I write this updated record back in the $MFT metafile on disk.

To reflect the changes in the metafile, I need to either run the chkdsk command for the drive (on which changes are written) or reboot the system.

As I am writing to the system metafiles, the changes are not reflected until I run chkdsk or reboot. Is there a way, I get updated system metafiles without any extra effort??
