upgraded to MS XP SP3 and rebooted. Now I am getting the following message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt biosinfo.inf

I don't have the OS CD that came with the Dell desktop. Checked the MS site, but the KB entry (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829784) is not very helpful. Not sure what to do. Any ideas??

Thanks!

Did you try doing what it said? If so what happened?

Without the recovery disk you cannot follow the directions in the MS KB.
Came up with a different solution. I borrowed a USB to IDE/SATA cable and hooked it into my laptop. I then downloaded all my critical data to my laptop and then copied back the biosinfo.inf file back into the inf directory. I rebooted the desktop and the SP3 installation completed successfully. This was a very simple and cheap solution ($20 at TigerDirect).
