Do you have any idea if it's possible to upgrade my Windows XP Home to Windows XP Pro SP3 without having to reformat and reinstall windows?

I just want to do an upgrade, I tried searching for it already but couldn't seem to dig up any information leading to a solution for myself.

Thanks

- Dave

Where did you get that CD? I bet you downloaded it from some p2p site. I also bet the SP3 you have is not the final version and is probably the RC1 release.

I might be old school on this but I still prefer SP1 for XP Pro ... When I do asp.net applications they DON'T run with SP2 ... makes testing a pain ...

I am sure there are many users who have SP2 and work with asp.net just fine.

That might be true. At my previous job I could test the applications just fine on SP1.

One day or weekend they upgraded me to SP2.

It would not allow the code to execute and I researched it throughly and tinkered with multiple settings.

It would run live but not in testing in SP2.

They ended up refreshing my system as I was a lab tech back to SP1 as the IT Group could not even figure out how to fix it ....

It could be fixed by now ... but such is life.

There is a fix for it on microsofts site. The same problem happens if you make a 2k3 server a domain controller. It changes something with ASP that can make some things stop working.

Ahhh, that is good to know. I did look high and low for it when I was managing the application though and it is not my mess to deal with now.

Good to know though for future projects, thank you ...
