Hello everyone this is my first post for this forum. I have a tip for those people who don't have a firewall software and have windows xp installed AND

have a LAN(Local Area Network). As you may know you can use the default windows built in ICF (internet connection firewall) in start==>control panel==> network connection==>whatever LAN==>rightclick==>properties==>advanced ==> check the box.
hehe IM NOT DONE!
I know most of you know that but if you do enable ICF you will lose the ability of file and printer sharing in your network. Now I am going to tell you how to have to have the firewall enable and be able to share printer and files.
(Note: I do not accept any responsibility for any problem. But there should not be a problem as it worked for me

. So use at your own risk.)
_ If you want to connect to a PC and share files and printer in your LAN:
First make sure you have the ICF enabled as I explained how, above.
Go to start==>control panel==> network connection==>whatever LAN==>rightclick==>properties==>advanced ==> check the box.
Settings ==> Services
Click on “Add” button
Give any name for the description you would like “ie. LAN”
For the name or ip address enter the ip address of the host computer
For the external and internal port number put “139” (note: Windows shares files through this port in LAN)
Select TCP. (Note: You can choose UDP protocol if you want to but TCP is more Secure)
Click ok
do the same procedure for ports (135-139)
(enter the correct LAN ip address!)
Restart your computer and you are done!
(Note you may need to do this for all of your LAN computers. Be careful with the IP address.)
