Hi.. I just joined a Online business company. They told me one of our web server (that hosted in our web hosting company), its Verisign SSL cert is expiring. May I know what is the verisign SSL cert do on our web server? Does it impact our web server if we don't install or expired? What is the SSL cert? Is that a file?? How do we install it on our web server??

Are you guys associated with verisign yourselves, or are you going through a domain name that uses it for you?

Either way, it's probably best to get it renewed, seeing as it handles your purchases. Basically what it does it secures your client's information when they're ordering online.

Your clients see that too. It doesn't exactly inspire trust. ;)

we are renewing SSL cert for our domain name res.xyz.com but when I go to res.xyz.com site, it doesn't show me the it is certified by Verisign or etc. When I search for the digital ID for res.xyz.com it shows our record but when I search http://www.xyz.com which is the alias of res.xyz.com, it shows no record. After purchasing the SSL cert , do we have to install on our web servers for the domain?? How do our client know that our web site domain is certified by Verisign
