Hi guys- you've always helped me before. I REALLY need your help this time.

My boss has a brand new laptop with Windows Vista on it. I downloaded a print driver from HP to upgrade for his printer.

It is stuck in a loop. It is checking systme Requirements - it has been at 94% for 2 days!

It won't let me re-boot, won't let me shut down, can't get to task manager, nothing. I called HP but there weren't able to help. They are sending me a disk to do the upgrade, but in the meantime he can't use his computer.

How do I break out of the loop?

Thanks.

Yvonne

My Laptop has window's Vista on it. I tried to download a print driver from HP and then run it. As it ran it got stuck in a loop. I can't re-boot, can't shut down or anything. Can't run any programs.

Can anyone help?

Unplug the laptop from its power source and remove the battery. That should at least get you to shut the thing down. Then put everything back and see if it boots up.

Press and hold the power button on your laptop until it shuts off.

it doesn't turn off. It seems like it does and after waiting 15 minutes or longer, when you push the button to turn it on - it resumes right were it left off.

I merged your other post with this one. Your issue only requires one thread and this is the best forum for it.

Leave it ON until the battery runs out....that cant be that long...laptop batteries lives are normally short.
