I'm trying to revert my Hp pavillion dv2000 from vista to XP, and there is no end to the problems iv'e faced...

Ok, first i needed to make a new partition... done.
then make CD my first boot order...done
set the SETA to disabled... done

but now the XP cd wont boot on startup, and when i try and boot from inside the vista operating system, the "Install Windows XP" option when the CD is booted is faded out, so its un- clickable.
Please can anyone help?

By creating a new partition for XP, you are really not reverting to XP, you are setting the machine for dual boot.

Had you wiped Vista completely first, that would be reverting.

In either case, the machine should boot from the CD, as long as, the CD is bootable and you set it in the BIOS, the way you said you did. Test it with another bootable CD. It can be anything as long as it's bootable.

There is no way to install XP while Vista is running.
