Probably just my unfamiliarity with Windows 7, but I can't seem to get a VPN connection to connect to work. I had this same problem with Vista Business the few short weeks I was using it.

Basically all I did was run through the VPN Connection setup using all default settings. I assumed it would connect as easily with the default settings as it did with XP and Win2K. Wrong!

Any thoughts as to what I might be missing?

Starting with the simple things first, have you looked at the exceptions in Windows firewall & or Norton, etc...?

Well, I don't have an antivirus / firewall on this computer other than Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. I hadn't looked because it didn't occur to me. Past experience with XP and Win2K was that it was never an issue to VPN past any firewall.

But I did look and was honestly surprised at how much more there is to Win7 than there was in XP. Honestly I'm not quite sure if anything there is actually affecting the VPN or what to even look for at the moment. I suppose I'll work on that angle and test it out this weekend.

Disable whatever is there. You can always re-enable it.

Yeah. That's what I'll do, but most likely I'll do what I normally do and disable one thing at a time until I actually find out what it is.

I came across this same issue.
We have ISA and the vpn works flawless for everyone except 3 people (1 being me..) not sure why these two don't work, the isa server log was showing some auth completed but then a disconnect.

It has to be client side, not server side.
My xp, mac, work fine.. my vista did not.
Vista on work laptop connects fine from my house..

Hope you aren't having that same issue.
