Add a quick OZZU shortcut to your desktop.

1. Download and save this file to your hard drive:
http://atnopro.com/ozzu/favicon.ico

2. Right Click an empty spot on your desktop. Select New|Shortcut

3. In the field to type the location of the item type: http://www.ozzu.com

4. Click Next

5. Type a name for this shortcut: OZZU

6. Click Finish -- Your new shortcut will appear on your desktop (probably with the stock IE icon).

7. Right click your new shortcut and select properties.

8. Select Change Icon (before you do, you might get a kick out of seeing how many visits you've already made to OZZU. Mine is showing 3,080 at the moment)

9. Browse to the favicon.ico file you downloaded and select it.

10. Click OK. Then Click Apply or OK, and there you go -- you're new customized OZZU shortcut.

----------------------------------------
As a side note, you can customize any desktop Icon you have following the above method.

sorry to re-hash an old topic, but is there a way to set a desktop web short-cut to open in a new window instead of taking over one?

not to my knowledge. When you create a "web" shortcut such as this it will either open in the active IE window, or, if no active IE web browser windows are opened it will open a new IE window (usually minimized by default) (assumes the default browser is IE).

ok - this post is exactly what you need to open new windows
from shortcuts, outlook, outlook express, AIM, etc etc....anything
that contains a url that spawns a browser window. I have this
in effect on my pc, and I absolutely love it...I wish it was defaut
but oh well...easy enough to fix.

Now that you got me thinking, there seems to be a reg hack for this too:

http://winguides.com/registry/display.php/964/

*caution....don't change your registry if you don't know what you're doing!

Oh...now that is really freaky. I'm just curious if this happens for anyone else. Go to that page I just linked above.

Now go to start|run and type in regedit

Look at what happens -- you are sitting right there on that registry key for the hack! I want to know how they did that!!! *lol -- that is just way too cool!

lol, RegEdit, by default, goes back to the last key you looked at..

Perhaps you went there last time you loaded RegEdit? ;)

Hmmm...Possibly....Last time I was in regedit on this comp I was looking for the key that controlled how many browser windows could be opened in a session. I might have been there. It just freaked me out it was the same hack I was looking at. Thanks for the reminder on that. Must have been the last place I was.

No. I've known how to create custom shortcuts on the desktop for a long time. It's just that most don't and I created that icon from UNFLUX's excellent graphic so I could have an OZZU one on my desktop and just thought I'd share the method since many are probably not aware they can do that.
