Hello everyone
Is it possible to host a website on your own machine (Server 2003), in the world wide web? If it is could you guys explain this to me or give me site where there may be a tutorial... I have been searching the net, but I have only found sites that tells you how to do it localy(intranet).

Thank you in advance

Sincerely
Shadow Knight

As long as you have a web server setup and properly configured on the machine, and if you're behind a router, as long as the proper ports are forwarded, then yes.

ISP's usually frown upon this, so I'd check with yours before attempting to.

I dont know if this counts, but I can view the site locally, however other computers outside the network cant display the site, there is where I have my problem...and I have open port 80 on my router, and I still have the same results.... as for my ISP I have bellsouth and I have a static IP...

Do you have knowledge of a site that have a tutorial on how to hosted outside the network?

thanks for the quick response

Hmmm.. as long as your router is set up to forward port 80 to the machine with the web server, your IP from your ISP should work fine.

I don't know of any tutorials off hand but I'm sure there's plenty of them if you search for "setting up a web server".
