Okay, so this afternoon things started to go weird for me and Petal II (my laptop). She decided to go really slow, the mouse was very slow to respond - and then she froze. I'm running Vista Home Basic, btw. Anyway, after that Petal II would not start windows ... she showed a blue screen for like a millisecond and then thrust me to some repair thingy, which I did. After that I could start and log into Vista and what-not, except everything was quite slow. Then I tried to use firefox and everything froze. I restarted, tried to use IE, and everything froze. I restarted in safe mode, FF and IE work, but the computer froze when I tried scanning using Adaware, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

Today I installed an expansion for Railroad Tycoon 3, but I uninstalled that and the problems persist ... HALP! (please) :)

Run msconfig, disable all under the startip tab, reboot and try to scan with anti malware again. Try Hijack This too.

Does F8 take you to the boot menu? What about F12?

Set the BIOS to defaults and try to boot it again.
