What's the best way to format when you have XP

I'm trying to figure out how to format my C drive when I have windows XP on it and having a bit of trouble since it doesn't have DOS on it. I have another hard drive and am considering installing another operating system such as 2000 on it and then load up using it and then formatting but am not quite sure.

Can anyone help me out here?

do you have the orignal disk of window$ XP if you do you can get to the DOS screen that way.
