which file format is good for speech? audio..

just wondering which to use for some audio files.
they are mainly speech/lectures files. I am thinking of putting them up online for use.

What is the best in terms of quality, size of file???

mp3?

wmv?

quicktime?

For online speech ,looks like it points to the WAVE format.

how about the space factor? does it take much more than other formats>??
