I have a Dell computer with Windows XP home edition. We got a virus (es) (it's happened before) and we were going to reformat the hard drive but for some reason, the computer thinks we have Windows XP professional and won't let us use the resinstallation CD that came with the computer. Should I buy one from someone off Amazon.com or does anyone have another solution? Thanks

Format the drive using another boot disc. Anything with fdisk or use gparted.

I think my first question would be, why your computer thinks you have XP pro instead of XP Home.
