i'm making a theme and i was wondering if i can change the "wvleft.gif" to another file type (such as, opening up some file that tells what it's looking for, and changing the .gif part to a .png or something) because i'd really prefer more then 256 color's

if anybody knows (if it's even possiable)... would be great, thanx

what are you using to modify the theme?... windows blinds, style builder? if so there should be an option to set the file that it tries to locate, but other than that I dont really know... hope it helps :wink:

Wierd, in Win2K that image is a BMP :?

Anywho, if WinMe is anything like 2K then your looking for HTT files.
The defaults should be somewhere like C:\WINNT\web or C:\WINDOWS\web
NOTE: theese files are either HIDDEN or PROTECTED OS FILES, make sure you have theese visible in folder view options before looking for them.

Theese files contain HTML tags, CSS and javascript code that defines the way folders look and operate.

If you open standard.htt (or any of the others) its like viewing source for a webpage.
your looking for this part near the bottom.
Code: [ Select ]
<body scroll=no onload=Load()>
    <div id=Panel style="background: white URL(wvleft.bmp) no-repeat">
      <div id=Corner>
        <object id=FolderIcon classid="clsid:E5DF9D10-3B52-11D1-83E8-00A0C90DC849" tabIndex=-1>
          <param name="scale" value=100>

        <br>
        <div id=FolderName>

Mainly this line,

I'm not going to go into great detail on how HTT files work but hopefully this has helped.

i need to remember to clean my fav's list lol

anyway... i'm not using any theme builder's, just making each image/icon/cursor as i go along

as for the .htt, i did try changing it to a .png and rebooting and checking.. although who knows, maybe it didnt save it properly or something so i can try that again (whats the worst that happens, nothing? been there done that lol)

-edit
i have the same thing in the standard.htt (the "wvleft.bmp") but i've always used .gif since thats how i found it when i installed ME but in other files, like "FOLDER.htt" it's a .gif :/
i think thats what i tried before.. oh well, just noting it for other's if they read this looking for help (hopefully save some confusion)

-
tried the folder.htt thing... just broke it so the image didnt show up (except for the C drive for some reason... *shrug*) so i set it back, a crappy pic is better then none lol
