Hello,

I need some help please:

I have a Compaq HP nx9010 laptop and got a "<windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe file missing or corrupt" message... When I turn the computer on it seems normal but Windows never starts and the screen stays black, then after several minutes I get the message above.

I did a little research and found this advice to fix the problem at mswindows-forum/ntoskrnl-exe-corrupted-windows-wont-open-t24580.html but I'm pretty illiterate with computers so I couldn't understand what exactly I needed to do in order to fix this without loosing all my data.

Could anyone please help with very detailed and thorough instructions so I can avoid complicating the problem further? I'd really appreciate it!

Cheers,
Maya
