Right Click + F does bring up the Favorites Bookmark Dialog box in Win2K and XP

Right Click + R is the Refresh

If you want to keep your hands entirely on the keyboard, the sub-menu button (just to the left of the right Ctrl button) does the same thing as right click. I went for years not even realizing that button was there.

press ctrl then roll the mouse idler wheel (sorry , I don't know how to call it ) . we could change the size of fonts in web!

umm, the way that works is if you hold control and click a link it opens your link in a new window(Note: if you have a pop-up blocker installed it may change that to allow pop-ups when ctrl+left-clicked)

Tired of looking for files via Windows Explorer? Create a custom toolbar for it.

Right Click any blank spot on your desktop toolbar. Navigate to Toolbars|New Toolbar.

Navigate to your C: drive (or any other drive or folder you'd like).
Left Click it once to highlight it and click OK.

Your C: drive is now on your desktop toolbar. Click the double arrows >> to expand it and navigate through it like you do your start menu.

I read on page 4 somone asked what the Sys RQ button is. It was a command called "system request" designed by IBM for use in there termnal services.

To switch to the desktop, the other option is to press the Windows key and M at the same time.

OR Win+D, that way you can press Win+D again to restore your apps.

with winkey+M puts apps down, winkey+shift+M brings them back up, good if you have a tendancy to double key for whatever reason

I went through all of these to make sure that no one else had posted it.
i don't know if it works with other versions of Windows.

1) start > shut down

2) select shut down from the menu

3) hold the shift key when pressing OK

the operating system will restart WITHOUT restarting the computer. there are more of these on http://www.annoyances.org

I'm fairly certain it works with 98 and up (to the best of my knowledge) the_Maven...but not sure of any prior. I thought I posted that earlier, but perhaps not. I use that one quite a bit.

Probable posted before but what the hey:

alt + f4 : closes the focused application, or goes to the shut down menu if none are focused ( all windows versions save 3.1)

(I usually hold these down if I am in a hurry to exit programs and shut down )

windows key + l : locks computer on most configs (XP)

windows key + r : goes to run prompt ( for netstat , net view , or any of the following commands ....)

Run dialog programs: ( 98 + afaik )
"winver" : displays Windows Release Version
"charmap" : displays Windows character Map for various fonts
"calc" : opens calculator program

This one is priceless! It has driven me nuts for over a year. Those of you who have Windows NT or Windows 2000 machines probably already know that Microsoft exluded MSCONFIG from those two OS's. It makes it so difficult to elliminate garbage from startup. If you don't know where to find the program or it doesn't have an option to not run at startup it's almost impossible to elliminate. I was almost ready to ask the question here, but finally did a couple productive searches and found the solution.

Microsoft added this back in XP. You can work this one of two ways. If you have access to an XP machine you can copy msconfig.exe to your Win NT or Win2K machine in the System32 folder.

If you don't have access to an XP machine you can download the zip file from thetechguide.com - http://www.thetechguide.com/downloads.html (you'll see it at the bottom) here's the direct link to the zip file - http://downloads.thetechguide.com/msconfig.zip
Again, unzip the file and copy it to System32. It will execute in Start|Run like anything else in the System32 folder will.

(don't let the terms on the site "Ripped from WinXP" bother you. This is not a crack, it's a simple matter of copy and paste.)

I don't know the proper name but to turn "text eating" (when you type your charater replaces the one infront of it) on and off press the Insert Button.

Works in Win2K as well, but on the right click you choose close, vs. close group.
