I've seen this problem with Office 2007 on Vista but not so much with Office 2003 on XP, but it seems the problems are similar and most likely after your reinstall the email indexing is messed up. Since your pst file seems to have been imported properly and everything is there, I'd suggest doing a repair install of Outlook. I suspect that will fix the indexing problem.
