When I click 'view source' in internet explorer, nothing happens! This is very strange and I don't know why. I have the default editing program set on 'notepad' so I don't think that could be the problem. I know it's not the website blocking it because it won't work on any site at all. Does anyone have any suggestions?

As noted in the link temporary internet files can cause this when there are too many. Follow the tips in the link and you should be fine.

As I am told, to remove it, you have to do a lot of manually removing things. But I am not sure....

I would just get rid of the Icons, and change the default browser to firefox/mozilla/etc. and would keep it around in case a site has to have IE, or testing purposes, and to do windows updates.

Back to orginal poster, try a different program to edit, and see if that works. and with the deafult programs that I think you are talking about, is for thre big "edit" button that is on the toolbar with the favorites, back, home, etc. buttons.(you might have to manually add the button for it to show)

IE is fully removable if you format your harddrive and install Linux. Now I'm free; free to do anything without the intrusion of Bill Gates.

Well I will be if I can get everthing working again...

Thank you for your help; this solved the problem

It turns out I had 388 Mb of temporary internet files because the limit was set way too high.
