I need a Video editing software that can read and convert many video formats, especially .MOV, and can output video for various requirements like Internet broadcast and so on.

can anyone recommend anything that fits this bill?

I use Apple Final Cut Pro HD. Apple Final Cut Express has a fairly reasonable price at about $700 USD cheaper than the FC Pro HD. But, if money is not a factor than go with the Pro HD.

If you can't find something HERE, you most likely are not going to find it.
