vetofunk (or others),

how long did it take you to get approved as a DMOZ editor? I'm only waiting a week so far, but just curious how long I should expect. I understand they say "a few minutes to several weeks", but was wondering the average response time.

Seems the Meta's at DMOZ would want to make getting new editors a priority in order to help with the backlog.

Thanks.

Usually it takes only a few days. One thing that delays me all the time, because I forget, is to check your email once you submit. You have to send back there email that shows your email address is valid.

really, only a few days, huh?

Been a week and a half with no word, and I did confirm my email address. Is it worth asking in the "Become an Editor" forum or is that just a waste of time?

My application for DMOZ editor was not qualified as I chose the category in which I work Web Hosting and Software Programming :)

I would expect that category to get alot of abuse. They probably would only allow experienced editors into that category.

dont use your website e-mail address and also to show that you are a social worker and give them two three site whch you have designed or you are involved with them & give there proper description, dont use promotional word too. Its an easy task to become a editor if you are true with your hearts, Rest about timings of approval depends uopn the people looking after them, normally within 24-48 hours but sometimes it takes a week too.

The chances to be editors nowadays are completely related to the special category you are applying for. As an example, it's nearly impossible to be an editor for topicslike website design, web hosting, domain registration, SEO nowadays because they are loaded with editors and DMOZ does not need any more people for such topics.

But for other, less crowded categories, yes it's possible.

Humm... but less crowded categories also need some specializations.

Like I found hockey and ice hockey things.

But I don't know a thing about it.
