Today the NY Times has an article

http://tinyurl.com/6gggjr

that addresses the issue of Google likely violating a 2003 Ca. law regarding the need to have a link to a website's privacy law on the home page or the first "significant" page (for the folks with splash pages). The law is here ...

http://tinyurl.com/h4qrc

It addresses sites that collect any of the following:

(1) A first and last name.
(2) A home or other physical address, including street name and name of a city or town.
(3) An e-mail address.
(4) A telephone number.
(5) A social security number.
(6) Any other identifier that permits the physical or online contacting of a specific individual.
(7) Information concerning a user that the Web site or online service collects online from the user and maintains in personally identifiable form in combination with an identifier described in this subdivision.

As best I can tell, it does not apply to the ordinary collection of IP addresses in web logs ... but I'm not a lawyer, so what do I know!!

Just wanted to share the "good" news!

After Jayson Blare admittedly wrote 36 fake articles for the NY Times and after Author Oaks Sulzberger was quoted as saying 'The CIA can always get help here', I wouldn't read the Times ever again.
How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

"Big brother" knocking on the door, sounds like Google is in trouble.
