When I google my site name, I get some 25,000 hits. However, when I google link: with my site address, I only get 160 hits. Why is that? Does it effect my page rank, being that google is link-oriented? If so, what can I do?

Google doesn't show all backlinks in a link: search.

So what does that mean? That this is a normal difference - nothing to be worried about?

You can check the very much difference between google and yahoo displaying links just compare the results together.

one of my site shows more than 250 backlinks in yahoo and 3 to 4 backlinks in google.
and i too don't know whats the reason behind it.
