Google, for too long the web's best kept secret, is finally getting the recognition it deserves as the most efficient and relevant search engine.
Most search engines uses computer "spider" robots to find the keywords you request on various web pages. Some rank results by how prominently or often those words appear. Some engines also calculate how many other web pages connect to the web page found. This popularity logic makes sense: if a certain web page is popular, maybe it is more relevant than an obscure web site.
Google always takes logic one step further.

Both are very good search engines, and have different algorithms which are very good at helping you locate informations. I prefer Google because of it's simplicity. When I'm doing a search, i prefer not to have to wait until all of the news stories come up. Google has it's nice simple into page with no extraneous stuff to get in my way. However, Yahoo does have the news items and personal interest items. It all really depends on how urgent my search is.

Google is better on traffic because in general, Google is in demand than Yahoo. When it comes on user interface, I will go on Yahoo and obviously you can see the difference of it.

Both are good in their own ways. But the fact is Google brings in more traffic to any website than Yahoo. Google is more popular than Yahoo.

I also prefer Google.

Google's algorithm is better because it focuses on keywords.

It depends on your targeted country, Majority of internet users are using Google but there are some countries that prefer Yahoo.
