My main website is at http://www.eskimo.com and I've got a shell server at eskimo.com. Because I had people keep trying to access eskimo.com as a web server, I put a NAT rule in my router that ends port 80 requests destined for eskimo.com to http://www.eskimo.com so that those hits won't be lost.

However, I want people to use http://www.eskimo.com because it's directly to the web server, doesn't go through a NAT translation which will break some web applications, and entails less overhead.

On the Google Sitemaps, I have a sitemap for http://www.eskimo.com and NOT for eskimo.com. Further, Google recognizes both have identical content and asks me which I wish to index, and I have http://www.eskimo.com selected.

For a long time everything worked as expected, http://www.eskimo.com had PR7, eskimo.com PR0, and eskimo.com didn't show up in Google search results.

Now all the sudden, eskimo.com is PR7, http://www.eskimo.com has dropped to PR4, and Google is indexing eskimo.com.
ARGH!

I check my sitemaps and I still have no site map for eskimo.com, http://www.eskimo.com listed as the preferred domain.
How do I fix this? Google's support being what it isn't I don't know how to tell them it's broken.

Thanks, but in this case there is no web server at eskimo.com, which is why I have the port NAT'd to the webserver.

Up until this point, the webmaster tools on Google where it allows you
to select which to index has worked fine, this only broke a few weeks ago.

Many search engine treat www and non-www as different.

Canonicalization is the formal phrase used to describe the relationship between the www. and non-www version of a domain name. Derived from canonical, meaning (in mathematics) "A standard way of writing a formula", for our purposes the actual meaning is somewhat skewed.

use 301 redirection will help you to safe from non-indexing.
