I have a Christmas Ornament site. The main keyword for the site is "Christmas Ornaments". Now our site is filled with hundreds of ornaments pages that have the identical format for each ornament. Just different text depending on the ornament.

Now if you do a search for "christmas ornaments" on Google, you will see two pages from my site show up, the Homepage and the Boyscout ornament page. The site is Ornamentshop, by the way. So why, out of all the pages in my site, would Google pick up the Boyscout ornament page...and rank it on the first page for "Christmas ornaments"?

The reason is because the single page was picked up by an editor in DMOZ for his BoyScout category. Therefore, that single page has a DMOZ listing. That page is no different than the other 800 ornament pages.

Any thoughts?

interesting.

Is google know about all your other pages? and just those 2 got up in the ranking result? If it's true, Don't you want to find a way which google will find and index them all in a good position...?

Google has hundreds of pages of this site indexed. The thing is that all the other pages are ranked well for their specific ornament type..."baby's 1st Christmas ornament"...and so on, but not for "Christmas ornament" itself.

All of our content is the same for each page, except for the ornament type, so there was no reason why the "Boy Scout" ornament should have come up instead of the rest, except that it had a DMOZ listing.

I got scared there for a second. We just did a major site upgrade last week and a new homepage, but...

I had put down the wrong phrase. It is actually "personalized christmas ornaments" that shows it.

Actually an editor picked up the page on his/her own. I did not submit it.
