It's certainly against adsense terms to trick people.

http://pro-seo.blogspot.com/2006/08/put ... e-ads.html

They said you can put images near adsense blocks, but they cant look to be related to the adverts or part of the advert and can not draw undue attention to the adverts, though why someone would want to put images near the adsense if thier intention wasn't to draw attention to the adverts i dont know.

personally i wouldn't put images near adsense because the line seperating what is ok and what is against TOS is too blury for me to be sure i was doing the right thing.

You can use images beside your adsense. Its legal. I know a guy been doing it for years. Some template packages are already made up that way. With pics I mean.

You have to make sure you are doing it right.

I don't think it's any assurance that its not against google terms just because some people produce templates that put images next to adsense ads. Unless those templates were provided by google.

this is what google said when i emailed them
Quote:
If you choose to experiment with placing images directly next to the ads, I would strongly encourage you to maintain a visible border around the ad units to reduce the possibility of confusing users.

Their policy on using images isn't clear enough for me to risk doing it.
