Hi
am new to this - beware...

i have recently re-done some my site to css. Since then, google has dropped some of my pages - the only ones left are the ones that i didn't change over. can i infer that google doesn't like css?

also, I'm confused as to the whole h1 issue....i haven't used this tag - should i?

my rankings are bad..but are slowly climbing but then again only for my non-css pages...should I change back or is this a teething problem?

site is: http://www.potentbooks.co.uk

sorry if this is confusing...you should see my brain!!

thanks much for any help

I would suggest you use the headline tag < h1> as well as the rest of them, if your site has the titles for it. I currently use 3 on my home page. Personally I think the value varies with the algo, but I know it won't hurt you with G.

Your search - link:http://www.potentbooks.co.uk/ - did not match any documents.

Thats your problem. You have no links pointing at your site. If anything google likes css - less code fo9r it to crawl through.

the problem is - you have no links pointing to your site which means the search spider isnt visiting you very often.

More links = more visits from the spider = more pages listed.

thingk off H1 Tags like a newspaper headline - you put your best keywords in them :)

I agree with Jess ... Google does like stylesheets.

:!: But I think they should be used with a little bit of caution. :!:

Google also likes tags like headings, bold, emphasis, underline, and italics. These may be modified in the stylesheet, but use them on your page.

Google uses these tags to separate keywords from body text. It is assumed YOU think these words are important by drawing attention to them. So they must be important for search results. :)

thanks everyone..

Jess - thanks for your links tip - the problem with the links I'm getting is that each one has done the redirect thing with them so even though i am listed in some good relevant sites they're not counting...have asked to change but they don't...will keep on it. - cheers...

Hey :)

every link you get pointing at your site is going to help with your rankings so yes - google showing some backlinks for your site is an excellent start.

http://www.blueangels.net/ - take a look at this link - use th A-z down the left hand side to find literally hundreds of directories & search engines you can get your site included too :) That will help with generating backlinks.

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www ... f&filter=0

google has all of your pages listed in their results - its just only showing 2 of them linking to your homepage for now, that will change i'd guess after the next update.
