Do those "get #1 spot on google" things that are for sale on ebay currently work. If not, have they ever? What value could they possibly add to your site? The examples that they used consisted of keywords which returned only like 2000 results: the keyword that I would like to take control of returns several hundred thousand results.

Northwestern Mutual

I would also refrain from buying supposed 'high traffic' websites on eBay as well. What they really are, are 'mock-up' sites that require you to pay before you can see what stuff they offer, so what you're most likely to get for you money is a three page template and nothing in the 'member' section.

To be honest, I don't know how (or if) they get away with it...

Interesting. I know bigwebmaster noticed a small update also - anyone else? I don't see anything.
