Recently a new tool for Google was launched, which will look up the position of a website in their search for any given keyword.

This may not be an all too fancy idea, and has been done before by others, but none of the programs were web based, none of them was so fast, or for a matter of fact - free.

Google Inc. has approved the launch of this new service, thus anyone may use it to see how their websites rank for a keyword.

The URL is http://www.googlerankings.com

Pretty interesting - I was never able to see where I ranked without wading through pages of results for certain keywords. Nice!

Nifty.

Searching quoted strings works fine as well.

Only the field is not correctly re-filled after submitting as it does with unquotted strings

If you want to do more than 1 keyword at a time, try searching in Google for "1-click rankings" or go to webceo.com/freeware and there's a tool you can install that will check your keywords in almost every search engine out there (including Google australia, uk, us, france, etc.).

Be warned though --- using such a program is against Google's terms of service!

I wrote my own tool to do this using the Google API, but noticed that once in a while the results are slightly different between what the API returns and what I get when I search. I would think this tool uses the Google API, and will be plagued by the same problems if you study it enough.

Anybody else have the same experience with the API?

This is strange...

But then right under that is says

So is googlerankings.com a trademark of google inc or not!?!

I know it isn't, but I think that could be worded a bit better

The one I use, which in my opinion is better (also free) is http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/

It lets you store your keywords so you do not need to enter them every time. Also it lets you set your account to work as if it was from any country Google (http://www.google.com.au for example).
