Check this out, http://www.google.com/intl/en/trends/we ... index.html
Here's an example, http://trends.google.com/websites?q=hulu.com

How long has this been available, I don't remember seeing it last time I used trends not too long ago ?

You can get a good idea whether a site is a "household name" by how close to the top their domain name is to the top of the top searches in the results.

You can also see what keywords your competitors are getting traffic from, what country that traffic is comming from, and what similar sites visitors also visit.

Google gathers results from Google analytics. Most of the big companies avoid using Google analytics since it is less efficient.

This is one of the reason why several websites do not show up on Google trend search.

That doesn't make any sense.

Why are there results for Microsoft.com and Paypal.com if Google gets the data from Google Analytics ?

I think the reason a lot of sites don't show up in trends, is because those sites don't have enough traffic going to them through Google for Google to produce anything for Trends, just like it says on the screen when you look for them on Trends.

Hopefully Bigwebmaster can confirm, but I don't believe Ozzu started using Analytics until some time in 2008, yet there's data for Ozzu in trends dating back to mid-2007. How do you explain that ?

Then why does Slashdot.org, a site with a naturally occuring DDOS effect (The Slashdot Effect or Being Slashdotted) named after it, use Google Analytics ?

Yeah, it's a very helpful tool. You can learn a lot and optimize your website.
