We really should start a 'sticky' that covers Google Myths ... Busted! :)

Common sense to some, but look at all the sites out there that don't do a lot of it.

yeah, some common sense involved. with regards to the title it mentions in article..
i thought it is also common sense to have domain name as the same as your keyword. ie. web-hosting.com.

and in that way, you can include yr site name in yr title as well.

its not 100 % no-no to have site name in title then...

If your domain name contains keywords ... by all means use it in your links.

I thought the article missed a few myths ... like:

 Google only looks at the first 100 links on a page.

 Google won't follow links with ? in the link ... http://www.domain.com/phpbb/viewtopic.p ... &topic=485

I wouldn't put my site on anything with more 40 links, but that's just me...unless it has a DMOZ listing.

Yeah, anything with parameters, I do not trust it will get to my site.

I thought that way too ...

But we did a test and even pages with 300+ links were showing up as backlinks. Of course you still have to question how much PR is being passed through.

For the second one that is an actual backlink showing up for my site on Google right now. Check for yourself at

Some days I don't think we give tge Google-Gnomes as much credit as they deserve.

It is in their best interest to try and 'see' the same things users see. And try to ignore everything that is not visible.

That's why most tricks are so short lived.
