Hey there,

I found an interesting article about page rank.

http://pr.efactory.de/e-pagerank-algorithm.shtml

It has the original page rank formula in it and explains how it could have been modified.

Let me know what you think?

Sincerely,
Travis Walters

It's a great explanation but google is wise.....they keep on changing the formula/algorithm in order to provide a good service to users.

I really don’t understand why people keep on mentioning page rank, it means nothing and has nothing to do with your results in the Google search engine.

Hope this clears things up.

Hey there,

Would you agree that quality content increases your SERP results?

One factor in page rank is the quality of your pages.

Thus, there is a relationship between page rank and search engine results.

I would love some official google documentation that says page rank is not important.

I think it is true to say that it is not important as it once was a year ago, but it is still important nonetheless.

By the way, I am glad you enjoyed the article.

PR(A) = (1-d) + d (PR(T1)×L(T1,A) + ... + PR(Tn)×L(Tn,A))

The L(Ti,A) part of the equation measures how important the link is. The factors they keep changing has to be in L(Ti,A). It would just be nice to see what actually goes on in that part of the equation :)

Yes, I agree that quality content drives high to your SERP result. There is no relationship between PR and SERP result but PR and traffic, yes there is.

Hey there,

If there is no relationship between PR and SERP results, what do you think PR is used for?

People do not want to increase their PR for the heck of it ;)

It's hard to outsmart Google. You may be able to, but only for awhile.

Hey there,

I have no intention of trying to outsmart google.

There would be no point in doing that. They have hundreds if not thousands of people working on ways to outsmart me ;)

My time and energy is better spent making quality content.

Having said that, it is still interesting to find out how PR works.

Sincerely,
