Most effective way for getting your site indexed is by getting quality backlinks from other indexed sites.
Also submit your sitemap at Google and do directory submissions.

The easiest way to get index in google is to get quality backlinks and the minimum time to get index is three days I guess.

To get indexed can take anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks.

I will put a link on a site that gets crawled daily.

Your site must have quality backlinks to get indexed by Google. You could get those quality links from directories and from relevant sites

What I did in my site is, I provide it with good contents and ping it after I update. After 4 days I tried to to see in google wether my site is already indexed and it's a good news, my site was indexed.

I think it depends on your quality of contents and back links.
Try forum and blog posting as well as social book marking.

It depends on

1) how well your site is optimized
2) what keywords you are targeting
3) how many pages are indexed

When I do a site for a client, they're usually page one in Google for keywords with fewer than 3M indexed pages within a couple of days, page one for keywords with 50M+ pages indexed within a month, and ranking for highly competitive words (up to 1 billion pages) within two months. BUT...it takes months of research, writing, and testing to do that.

Backlinks are important, but the end all be all in my book is out-SEOing your competitors (and top ranking sites for keywords you're targeting.)

Hope that helps,

Christina
