How to increase google backlinks.!

Well........"link:http://www.vtlglobal.com" and "www.vtlglobal.com" are two different queries also for google as by entering "link:http://www.vtlglobal.com" to the google search box you will find the results for the http://www.vtlglobal.com which are considered as the backlinks by the Google and thats are few.

And by entering http://www.vtlglobal.com to the google search box, you will find the results for http://www.vtlglobal.com that shows the overall presence of link "www.vtlglobal.com"on the web no matter it is considered as backlink by google or not.

The important thing is that google is very strict in comparison to other search engines in terms of showing backlinks and it shows only most relevant sites as backlink for any website unlike yahoo and msn which shows a lot of backlinks for any site no matter the backlinks are relevant or not.

yes i can see some backlinks.. but the backlinks from the directories in which i had submitted my site are not shown :(

Google shows only quality links.
Are you sure that you submite your site in good directories having not "no follow attribute"?

I have read the complete thread and everyone agrees that Google looks for "Quality Links" only.

Now, the question is:

Can someone define "Quality Link" ?
